West Highland Way Companion is a hiking companion app designed to assist walkers on the West Highland Way in Scotland. Our services include showing your position on the route without a phone signal, setting a goal for each day, guidance back to the route line, a packing list, and a journal you can export. Some features differ by platform; see the features page for what each version does.
3. User responsibilities
3.1 Safety and risk
Walking the West Highland Way involves inherent risks. You are solely responsible for your safety and well-being while using our app. The app is a supplementary tool and should not replace proper hiking preparation, safety equipment, or common sense.
3.2 Acceptable use
- Use the app only for lawful purposes
- Do not attempt to reverse engineer or modify the app
- Respect the privacy of other users
- Do not share inappropriate content in journal entries
4. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of GPS data, maps, or trail information. Weather conditions, trail closures, and other factors may affect the accuracy of information provided.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, West Highland Way Companion shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to accidents, injuries, or losses incurred while hiking.
6. Intellectual property
The app and its content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
7. User content
You retain ownership of content you create in the app, such as journal entries and photographs. By using the app, you grant us a limited licence to store and process this content in order to provide our services.
8. App store terms
If you download our app from the Apple App Store, you also agree to Apple's Terms and Conditions for the App Store. If you download it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply in the same way.
9. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the app at any time for violations of these terms or for any other reason.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes will be resolved in Scottish courts.
